Answer:
The Q2 Radio uses a 3 axis accelerometer to detect motion, the same type of
motion detector as used in popular games controllers. In this way, the
volume can be adjusted by tipping the radio forward or backwards, and
the station can be changed by rotating it onto a different face.

Answer: The initial volume is the listening level which the radio will go to, after being switched on using the switch on the rear panel. If it is righted from the face down or face up (mute) position, it will resume at the previous listening level.
